Post-hardcore trailblazers Thousand Below return in full force today with the release of their explosive new single “Palace Of Dread." The unrelenting new track, produced by Josh Gilbert (Spiritbox) marks a fierce and cathartic turning point for the band, showcasing a raw intensity that fans both new and old will find impossible to ignore.
“Palace Of Dread” arrives alongside the official announcement of Thousand Below’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Buried In Jade, set for release on August 8th via Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG. This new chapter follows the band’s stunning 2022 release, Hell Finds You Everywhere, and builds on the momentum of their 2024 singles “SHAKE” and “Wrong Again,” which introduced a fresh and infectious edge to their ever-evolving sound.
Vocalist James DeBerg shares insight into the making of “Palace Of Dread,” and the excitement behind the beginning of a new era for Thousand Below:
“We’re incredibly excited to share ‘Palace of Dread’ with the world & to announce our new record Buried In Jade. Working with 2 different teams of producers for the album brought out a wonderfully unique side of our band that was so rewarding to tap into, and we can’t wait for it to release. Palace Of Dread is by far our favorite addition to the heavy side of our catalog."
Buried In Jade stands as a career-defining moment for Thousand Below, distilling nearly a decade of sonic exploration into a cohesive yet diverse body of work. The album spans multiple sonic spectrums from crushing metalcore anthems and hook-heavy modern pop elements to atmospheric rock, heartfelt ballads, and the band’s signature post-hardcore roots. It's a bold step forward—both sonically and thematically—for a band unafraid to grow beyond genre lines.
Produced by Austin Coupe (The Devil Wears Prada, Citizen, nothing, nowhere) — as well as Josh Gilbert on select tracks (“Palace Of Dread” “The Quiet And Cold”) and mixed by Joseph McQueen, Buried In Jade captures the essence of Thousand Below’s past while boldly forging their future.
Earlier this month, Thousand Below supported Citizen Soldier on The Semicolon Tour 2025 alongside 10 Years and NERV across the US. More tour dates from Thousand Below will be revealed in the coming weeks.
